Sugar Baby movie lovers–rejoice! With the exception of an occasional indie film, the sugar dating topic appears far and few-between on the silver screen. Let’s review some classic flicks for any aspiring Sugar Baby.
Sugar Baby Movie Pick #1: Pretty Woman (1990)
Originally released in 1990, this flick features PYT Julia Roberts who works as a run-of-the-mill call girl.
When Robert’s character gets dolled up for ‘appearances’, her look screams luxe. Yet admittedly, her lifestyle is hard and fast. No girl wants to be on-call forever. This sugar-accepting beauty falls unexpectedly in love with Mr. Edward Lewis (played by Richard Gere) and we’re able to watch a complex woman go from “just doing my job” to true head-over-heels romance.
The moral of this story? Hardworking girls always get rewarded in the end.

Sugar Baby Movie Pick #2: Talladega Nights (2006)
You’ve been living under a rock if you haven’t seen the Will Ferrell flick Talladega Nights. This pick may catch some of you off-guard, but there is a determined lady seeking sugar if you follow the plot.
Ricky Bobby (played by Ferrell) is a champion Nascar driver. He has it all: the big house, a portfolio of endorsements, and a bank account that makes panties drop! His trophy wife, Carly, naturally wants the man who’s making the most cash. When Ricky loses his endorsements after an accident, she’s quick to make bed with his best friend. It’s clear where her intentions lie: maintaining her plush lifestyle.
The key takeaway: sometimes you have to play dirty to stay at the top. Shake and bake, baby!

Sugar Baby Movie Pick #3: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)
A true classic, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes features the uber famous Marilyn Monroe and glamazon-esque Jane Russell. Both ladies consume screen time with song, dance, and plenty of girl talk.
Lorelai Lee (Monroe) graces us with the popular quip “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” and the fashion these ladies wear screams old time Hollywood glam. The entire premise of the movie is giving up everything to find a millionaire husband. Even if that means crossing the Atlantic Ocean!
We see true hi’s and lo’s with this duo. The moral of this story: the struggle is real.

Sugar Baby Movie Pick #4: 50 Shades of Grey (2015)
The Fifty Shades series has made its mark as the most recent film in our movie lineup. But just because its recent, doesn’t mean it’s the best. Fans, hear me out on this one.
From a sugar perspective, the relationship setup fits to a ‘T’. Flying Anastasia Steele out for impromptu meetings. Random hookups in romantic settings. Gifts and financial support right when you need it–pretty much the whole kit and kaboodle. Christian Grey shows us the ideal wealthy sponsor / sponsee. Audiences are introduced to the positives of a sugar relationship and we see directly how sugar can help with Anastasia purchasing school supplies or a car which are essentials that she otherwise could not have purchased right away.
50 Shades lost me when the BDSM aspects of Grey and Steele’s relationship are under consideration. If you refer to our BDSM guide, there are frequent moments where consent, trust, and respect are tarnished for sake of entertainment. I won’t speculate much more for this pick. The sequel, 50 Shades Darker is due in theaters February 10th 2017 (literally days away). I invite you guys to share your own opinions!
